AM by the Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys
Since Friday’s post was Yorkshire-themed, I thought I’d continue with the Yorkshire-born and -raised Arctic Monkeys. Their new album, AM, is officially one of my favorite albums ever. Every single song is top-notch. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I’ve fallen in love with AM. I listen to it in the car, when I’m working, when I’m cooking, and I even swiped my husband’s portable speaker so I could listen to it in the bath.

Not being a qualified music reviewer, I won’t go on and on.  AM manages to be dark and transcendent. There. There’s my reviewer’s vocabulary out for an airing. Also, the hipster in me is going to recommend you get AM on vinyl (it comes with an mp3 download, too) to get the full experience. You may have already seen videos for the singles (Do I Wanna Know?, RU Mine?, One for the Road, and Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?–lots of questions there), so I wanted to share a few live performances including a video of one of my favorites that isn’t a single (yet, anyway!). It’s farther down the post. You can listen to the entire album on grooveshark.

You totally want the album now, right?
